You’ll spend 3 days and 2 nights starting from Senaru Village, visiting the Senaru Crater Rim, Segara Anak Lake, relaxing in the hot springs, and finally reaching the summit via the Sembalun route on the last day.

Overview

Want to experience the beauty of Mount Rinjani without having to climb the summit on the first day? This trekking route begins from Senaru Village, allowing you to gradually acclimatize as you hike through lush jungle to reach the Senaru Crater Rim for your first night of camping. From this point, you can enjoy stunning views of Segara Anak Lake, Mount Baru Jari, and even parts of Bali and the Gili Islands.

On day two, you’ll descend to Segara Anak Lake and the hot springs, where you can relax, swim, and camp overnight with a backdrop of towering cliffs.

On day three, the most challenging part of the trek begins: you will ascend to the summit of Mount Rinjani (3,726m) via the Sembalun route to catch a breathtaking sunrise. After enjoying the spectacular view, you will descend through vast savannahs and finish your journey in Sembalun Village.

Mount Rinjani 3D2N Trekking Itinerary (Senaru – Lake – Summit Sembalun)

Day1 Senaru to Crater Rim (2,641 m)

  • 08:00 AM – Start trekking from Senaru Village (601m), passing through lush tropical rainforest filled with exotic flora and fauna.
  • 12:00 PM – Stop for lunch at Pos 2 (1,500m), surrounded by the sounds of nature and fresh mountain air.
  • 03:00 PM – Continue trekking to Plawangan Senaru Crater Rim (2,641m) and set up camp with breathtaking views of Segara Anak Lake.
  • 06:00 PM – Enjoy the stunning sunset over the crater rim, followed by dinner and overnight rest.

Day 2 Crater Rim, Segara Anak Lake, Sembalun Crater rim

  • 07:00 AM – Breakfast and 2-hour descent to Segara Anak Lake (2,000m).
  • 09:00 AM – Relax and soak in the natural hot springs, known for their therapeutic benefits.
  • 12:00 PM – Enjoy lunch by the lake with spectacular views of Mount Barujari, an active volcano.
  • 02:00 PM – Ascend to Plawangan Sembalun Crater Rim (2,639m) via a scenic but steep 3–4 hour trail.
  • 06:00 PM – Set up camp and witness another magical sunset overlooking Mount Rinjani.

Day 3 Rinjani summit to Sembalun Village

  • 02:30 AM – Wake up and enjoy a light breakfast before the summit push.
  • 03:00 AM – Begin the challenging 3-hour trek to the Rinjani Summit (3,726m).
  • 06:00 AM – Reach the summit and witness a stunning sunrise with panoramic views of Lombok, Bali, Sumbawa, and Flores.
  • 07:30 AM – Descend to Plawangan Sembalun for breakfast.
  • 09:00 AM – Continue trekking down through savanna landscapes toward Sembalun Village (1,156m).
  • 12:00 PM – Lunch break on the way.
  • 01:00 PM – Arrive at Sembalun Village – end of trek. 🚙 Transfer to your next destination.

Important Notes

  • Physical Fitness: This trek requires a moderate level of physical fitness. It is not recommended for beginners or individuals with serious health conditions.
  • Weather Conditions: For safety reasons, the itinerary may be adjusted depending on weather conditions. Always follow the instructions of your guide.
  • Permits & Fees: National park entrance fees and trekking permits are included in the package. However, please carry a copy of your ID or passport with you.
  • Pack Light: Bring only essentials. Porters will carry your main luggage, but you should carry your own daypack with water, a camera, and personal items.
  • Altitude Acclimatization: Although the summit climb happens on the final day, some effects of altitude may still be felt. Stay hydrated and rest as needed.
  • Leave No Trace: Help protect the environment by not leaving trash along the trail. Always respect nature and local customs.
  • Best Time to Trek: The Rinjani trekking season usually runs from April to December. The national park is closed during the rainy season (January–March).
