How long does it take to hike Mount Rinjani?
Can a beginner climb Mount Rinjani?
Mount Rinjani is not an easy trek. There are some serious elevation gains. I would definitely recommend a reasonable amount of physical fitness. You don’t need hiking experience, plenty of people had never hiked before but it certainly makes it easier.
Is Mount Rinjani difficult to hike?
You rarely get a chance to climb an active volcano, go inside a caldera/volcanic hot springs and camp on a rim. That said, the trek is very very hard and not for the faint hearted. You must be physically fit, but most importantly mentally fit. Most treks are done over 3 days 2 nights with a guide and some porters.
Can you hike Mount Rinjani in one day?
Rinjani Trekking One Day is quite an extreme trekking program for those who would like have experience a night trek on Mount Rinjani without camping or overnight stay. This trek starts from Senaru entrance gate and treks up to the crater rim 2641 m above sea level in one night and one day journey.
Do you need hiking boots for Mount Rinjani?
We do recommend wearing your own hiking boots. However, if you have sneakers or running shoes with you that you feel entirely comfortable trekking in, then you should be fine. The terrain is varied and at times quite challenging, so having footwear that has strong traction and is comfortable is essential.
Is Mount Rinjani worth it?
So, is Rinjani worth it? You’ll get a lovely view even without reaching the top, and there’s a lot else to like about hiking here. But the better trekking packages are not cheap, and all the trash and poo makes it hard to recommend a Mount Rinjani trek.

You can hire a guide to take you up Rinjani, but we’d recommend going on an organised trek. That way you have porters to carry the food, water and camping equipment, and companions in misery for that long, steep trek to the summit.
How much to tip for a Rinjani hike?
Budget a little extra tip for porters and guides at Mount Rinjani. Tipping is at your discretion, however, once you see how hard your porters and guides work, you will be happy to leave them a small tip! A minimum tip of IDR 100,000 per guide/porter from each hiker is recommended.

There are two main points of entry to Rinjani National Park. You can ascend from the village of Sembalun or from Senaru. On three- and four-day hikes, you depart from one village and descend to the other. We highly recommend starting in Sembalun because of the way the trails are configured.
